We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, and dependable Hotel Chief Maintenance Engineer to join our management team. This position is responsible for overseeing the overall maintenance, safety, functionality, and appearance of the hotel while ensuring that our property, equipment, and building systems are maintained to company and brand standards.

The Chief Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the overall upkeep, preventative maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of the hotel's building systems and equipment. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong technical knowledge, organization, and the ability to respond quickly to maintenance needs while minimizing disruption to our guests and hotel operations.

The Chief Maintenance Engineer will work closely with hotel management and oversee maintenance team members to ensure the property remains safe, well maintained, and guest-ready at all times.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and oversee the daily operation of the hotel's Engineering/Maintenance Department and provide direction to maintenance team members.

  • Perform routine inspections of the hotel, guest rooms, public areas, exterior grounds, mechanical rooms, and equipment to identify maintenance and safety needs.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems.

  • Perform general repairs including drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, fixtures, locks, doors, and other hotel equipment.

  • Develop, maintain, and execute the hotel's preventative maintenance program to protect property assets and minimize equipment downtime.

  • Review, prioritize, assign, and complete daily work orders and guest maintenance requests in a timely manner.

  • Ensure guest room maintenance concerns are addressed promptly and professionally with minimal impact on the guest experience.

  • Maintain accurate daily maintenance logs, preventative maintenance records, work orders, equipment records, and other required documentation.

  • Assist hotel management with monitoring maintenance expenses, controlling costs, and operating within the established maintenance budget.

  • Monitor building systems and utility usage and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary operating expenses.

  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors performing repairs, inspections, and other services at the property.

  • Coordinate with local health, fire, building, and other regulatory inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

  • Maintain hotel pools and related equipment, including required daily testing and proper chemical levels, when applicable.

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory of tools, equipment, chemicals, and maintenance supplies.

  • Follow and enforce all company safety procedures, including proper execution of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with CMC Hotels, brand, OSHA, fire/life safety, and other applicable safety standards.

  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and assist hotel management during unexpected operational or building-related issues.

  • Support hotel operations as needed to ensure a safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for our guests and associates.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous hotel, apartment, commercial property, or similar facilities maintenance experience required; hotel maintenance experience strongly preferred.

  • Previous supervisory or maintenance leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance systems.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment, electrical switches and fixtures, plumbing systems, boilers and/or water heaters, drywall, and other building components.

  • Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and determine when repairs can be completed internally or require a qualified outside contractor.

  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and general building safety requirements.

  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification preferred or ability to obtain certification as required.

  • CFC/EPA certification preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple work orders, projects, and operational needs.

  • Ability to lead, train, and hold maintenance team members accountable to established standards.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with hotel leadership, associates, guests, vendors, and contractors.

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a safe and well-maintained property.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the condition and maintenance needs of the hotel.

  • Must be dependable, have a strong work ethic, and demonstrate a desire to grow and succeed.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to successfully complete required pre-employment screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, pull, and work from ladders as necessary.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry equipment, tools, and supplies associated with hotel maintenance.

  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and in mechanical or equipment areas.

  • Must have the flexibility to respond to hotel maintenance and emergency needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when business needs require.
